Hsu, Sheng Shan
Sheng Shan (Steven) Hsu, 79, passed away in his sleep on April 10, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Sheng Shan was predeceased by his oldest son Jong and his wife of 52 years, Chen. He is survived by his son Ming and daughter PeiLin, son-in-law Pete, and their children, Peyton and Preston, and daughter-in-law Lieke, and grand-daughters Jessica and Allison. He is also survived by his beloved sisters, May-Huah and May-Siohn and his brother, Song-Huhr.
Sheng Shan was born to Sheh-Biao (father) and Yue-Uhr (mother) on March 30, 1943 in Xinying (a small town in Southern Taiwan). He came from a fairly large family with two sisters and two brothers. He went to a technical school after graduating from high school and learned to repair watches and clocks. Sheng Shan loved trying new things. He was an amateur singer and model who also enjoyed playing sports. He had a great fashionable sense and always enjoyed traveling. He met his late wife, Chen, through an arranged marriage back in the days. They owned a private business in Taiwan selling watches, clocks and glasses. Everyone in the neighborhood knew him for his handsome looks and loved him.
Sheng Shan and his family immigrated to the United States from Taiwan in 1985. Due to an unforeseen accident that left Sheng Shan with a back injury, since his wife had to work, he was the one who did homework with the children and managed their daily schedules. He experimented different dishes in the kitchen to make sure his children were eating healthy meals. He had a deep love for his family and especially his wife. He was considerate, protective, and liked to tell jokes. He was a fabulous artist. He invented wire sculptures made of all kinds of wires; gold, silver, copper, plastic, and weaved them into 3-D animals and trees. He also enjoyed martial arts and painting.
Sheng Shan believed in working hard and doing his best in all that he did. He was humble and courteous and was always eager to tell a joke to make people laugh.
Sheng Shan’s soul is now with his parents and with his beloved late wife, Chen, and late oldest son, Jong. Knowing that he is at peace brings us all some comfort. We will miss him terribly.
